Nashville, often referred to as “Music City,” is a vibrant and exciting destination year-round. However, there’s something truly magical about visiting Nashville during the fall season. The crisp air, the stunning foliage, and the cozy atmosphere make Nashville a perfect fall getaway. We’ll guide you through planning the perfect fall weekend getaway in Nashville , filled with music, food, and outdoor adventures.

Day 1: Explore the Music Scene

A giant acoustic guitar statue stands on a path outside the Grand Ole Opry, with another smaller guitar sculpture nearby.

Morning: Start your day with a hearty Southern breakfast at Biscuit Love in the upscale Gulch neighborhood of Nashville. Try their famous Bonuts (biscuit donuts) and a classic Southern breakfast plate.

Late Morning: After fueling up, head to Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. If this is your first time visiting Nashville, this is a great way to get your bearings and truly appreciate the history of this wonderful city. Explore the history of country music, admire memorabilia from legendary artists, and take in the rich cultural heritage of Nashville.

Lunch: Stroll over to Broadway for lunch at The Stillery. Enjoy their mouthwatering “chef comfort food” and signature cocktails served in a mason jar, while soaking in the live music that pours out of every honky-tonk along the street.

Afternoon: Don’t miss a tour of the Ryman Auditorium, known as the “Mother Church of Country Music.” The Ryman is one of the most celebrated venues in music. Learn about its fascinating history and its role in shaping the country music scene. You can do a self-guided tour (visit anytime between 9am and 4pm), or on select days, you can do a guided backstage tour for a unique look at what goes on behind the scenes at the Ryman. Then head back to your vacation rental to put your feet up and get refreshed for the evening.

Evening: Wrap up your music-filled day with a visit to the Grand Ole Opry. Experience a live performance featuring both established and up-and-coming country artists. The Opry is an iconic Nashville experience that’s should not be missed!

Day 2: Enjoy the Outdoors

A walking path lined with arched metal trellises, surrounded by lush autumn trees with yellow, orange, and red foliage.

Morning: Start your day with a visit to Radnor Lake State Park, just a bit south of the city. Hike the scenic trails at this 1,368-acre park and take in the breathtaking fall foliage. It’s a peaceful escape from the city and a perfect spot for fall photography. The fall colors are typically at their best from mid-to-late October. Admission to the park is free.

Lunch: Head to 12South, a trendy Nashville neighborhood filled with boutiques, eateries, and bars. Grab brunch from Josephine, a modern American restaurant serving thoughtfully delicious food (brunch is only served on weekends – open for dinner Wednesday – Friday) or indulge in some mouthwatering fried chicken at Hattie B’s.

Afternoon: Spend your afternoon exploring Cheekwood Estate and Gardens , Nashville’s arboretum. The fall season in Nashville brings vibrant colors to the gardens, making it a picture-perfect spot to wander and take photos. Don’t miss the Cheekwood Harvest from mid-September to the end of October, with pumpkin displays and plenty of Fall activities to enjoy, including a scarecrow trail and a beer garden.

Evening: For dinner, make your way to Husk in Rutledge Hill. This James Beard Award-winning restaurant offers Southern cuisine with a modern twist, and their farm-to-table approach ensures a delightful culinary experience. The location in a renovated historic mansion is extra special, offering several different dining spaces and a cozy atmosphere.

Day 3: Fall Flavors and Farewell

Morning: Before leaving, treat yourself to brunch at Pinewood Social. This trendy spot offers a mix of breakfast and lunch options in a unique, industrial-chic setting. (For perhaps another visit, Pinewood also offers 6 reclaimed bowling lanes, which you can enjoy with up to 6 friends)

Late Morning: Visit the Belle Meade Plantation , a historic mansion and winery. Take a guided tour to learn about the history of this beautiful estate and enjoy wine tastings in the stunning fall vineyard setting.

Lunch: Conclude your Nashville fall getaway with lunch at The Loveless Cafe. Their Southern comfort food, especially the biscuits and fried chicken, is a true delight.

Afternoon: If time permits, stroll through the quaint streets of Franklin, a charming town just outside Nashville. Explore its boutique shops, historic sites, and the picturesque Main Street.
