Brandon Hall • September 23, 2025

From the world famous classics to your hidden gems, check out these spots for the best live music in Music City. Take it from us, these live music venues in Nashville should be at the top of your list for your next trip!

The Legends:

The Grand Ole Opry

A true Music City staple. The Grand Ole Opry is a cornerstone of American country music history. Dating back to 1925, it is known as the "home of country music." The Opry has hosted countless legendary performers, from Johnny Cash to Dolly Parton, and continues to be a must-visit destination for fans around the world. Many artists consider it both an honor and a huge privilege to be invited to play on this legendary stage. It is a sign of truly “making it” in the music world.

Join them this year to celebrate their 100th birthday!

Ryman Auditorium

The Ryman Auditorium is one of the most iconic music venues in the United States. Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Ryman was originally built in 1892. With its stunning acoustics and rich history, it has hosted legends across genres, from Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline to modern stars like Jack White and Brandi Carlile. Today, the Ryman remains a beloved venue that blends historic charm with world-class performances.

The Bluebird Cafe

If you didn’t know what to look for, The Bluebird Cafe would be an easy-to-miss spot. A little space with a big reputation, it opened in 1982 and has become world-renowned for its intimate atmosphere and songwriter-focused performances. The 90-seat venue is famous for its “in the round” shows, where songwriters sit in the center and take turns sharing the stories behind their songs.

Many of today’s biggest country and pop stars, like Taylor Swift and Garth Brooks, got their start after being discovered on its tiny stage. The Bluebird remains a sacred space where the power of storytelling and music come together in the most powerful way.

Something New

Pinnacle Venue

The newest state-of-the-art venue in Nashville Yard is already booking a wide variety of artists. In the heart of downtown, Pinnacle hosts a rooftop and multiple full service bars. There are paid parking options nearby or play it safe with easily accessible rideshare points. If you’re looking to catch a show before 2025 ends, they are hosting Tim McGraw, Maren Morris, Paul McCartney, and more this fall. You can even see more than just musical acts there with Dateline Live and comedians on the schedule as well.

Staff Pick

The Basement East

When asked, our team recommended The Basement East! This fun and cozy venue features themed nights, local artists, and big names as well. Go down memory lane with a tribute band or 30s+ music night, and enjoy yourself in this Music City gem. Given its size, guests love that the show feels small and intimate so they can really connect with the performance. They have a second location on 8th Avenue as well for your enjoyment.

Nashville’s Hidden Gems

Miss Zeke’s Juke Joint

Hickory smoked BBQ and live music? Say less. That’s what you’re getting with Miss Zeke’s Juke Joint. Located inside Papa Turney’s BBQ, Miss Zeke’s features a blues vibe with jam sessions every week. A more laid back scene, you can show up for dinner and a show. Papa Turney himself even offers his musical chops during the Blues Jam!

EXIT/IN

EXIT/IN has been a cornerstone of the city’s live music scene since 1971. Known for its gritty, no-frills vibe and intimate 500-person capacity, it has hosted an incredible range of artists, many of whom are featured on their walls. Unlike the country-heavy scene on Broadway, EXIT/IN carved out space for rock, punk, hip-hop, indie, and more, becoming a hub for countercultural music and community. In 2021, when developers threatened its future, fans rallied to save the venue, raising over $200,000 to help keep it independent. Today, EXIT/IN remains a symbol of Nashville’s diverse musical spirit and a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the city beyond the mainstream.
